Hello everyone and experts out there. I'm planning to upgrade my king from 5 to 6 Speed. Is there a significant performance change in terms of speed and gas consumption?

Usually in cars/motorcycles the extra gear doesn't mean its more top end and such, it's more about being in the "right gear" and being there "more of the time". What I mean is let's say you are going through the twisties , more than likely you will find yourself kind of searching for the right gear as your too high or too low on RPM's with an extra gear a lot of times you will find the "sweet spot". You could also possibly get a little better gas mileage if the 6th gear drops your RPM's a bit while cruising, but dont be expecting to get rich off the savings, lol.

I doubt you would ever see a 6-speed designed for a small CC bike to be a true OD as the drop in RPM's would be too much for a little bike.

Sir if your engine is modified ..well 6 speed transmission will make it more alive due to its close ratio characteristic.
    (sorry for multiple post ;))

My friend from Malaysia Sub Forum experience from changing 5 speed to 6 speed transmission. He state that the performance not as expected and it even hard to find spocket ratio. The bike mod with 62mm and other mod.
In the end, change back to 5 speed gearbox.

I am older than most but in 1982 Honda introduced the V65 Magna, a V4 engine that was a beast with 6 gears (last gear being overdrive). This was the first street bike to run a 10 second quarter mile (1320 feet or .40 kilometers) time. They had a commercial on TV where a professional racer lines up on the track, does a massive burnout and rips the throttle as soon as the green light turns. Next thing you see is the clock and him buzzing past the finish line at like 10.9 seconds (120 mph or something very high). During the run you only hear him shift once and when he is interviewed at the end his comments were priceless especially if you were a Honda fan. It was something like, well it wasn't a bad run, just wish i could have got into 3rd gear,,, WTF, four more gears to go, LOL.

If you ever hear one of these you will know it's something different. To this day i love this bike, V4 engine, 1100 cc, water cooled, shaft-driven and will easily wheelie in 3rd or 4th gear, trust me I know.

You can make these a drag bike or a cross country trip bike, very versatile. Twisties not so much, but talk about tire shredding flat out power which results in you hanging off the handlebars this one will do it!!
